Board Circles – the Third Part

Share my thoughts on

The Core Skills circle – fundamental and easy – finance, people, technology, strategy, risk, & culture.

The inner Power-Up circle – a bit challenging – transformational thinking, integration, speed, & engagement.

And Now … the REALLY CHALLENGING ones.

The Super-Power circle…

– Leadership.
21st century Leadership is caring and empathetic.

Strong, but never sappy.

It shines a light to the future and inspires internal stakeholders to willingly climb on board.

– Social Licence.
In 2020, organisations need to honour or even exceed their social licence to operate.

Not by trickiness, finding clever ways that look like honouring SL but really aren’t.

By authentically being able to pass the pub test.

Leadership for external stakeholders.

Wrap Core Skills in a Power-Up circle, add the Super-Power circle around that and see what might happen!

12 components, 3 circles.

This is 21st century governance.

It is operational and it is strategic.

It is for management and it is for the board.

It is for small and it is for big.

It starts with the board and it flows throughout the organisation.

Does your board have 21st century governance in place?? Or not?
